Venice Cinema: 'That Place in Time', Leo Gullotta and the Drama of Alzheimer's. A Film by Giuseppe Alessio Nuzzo on September 2nd at the Film Festival
A retired conductor suffering from Alzheimer's, struggling with the fear that the disease could erase his past, full of successes and memories. Playing the role of the artist is Leo Gullotta, the protagonist of 'Quel posto nel tempo', the film by Giuseppe Alessio Nuzzo that will be previewed on September 2nd at the Venice Film Festival and then released in theaters on September 21st, on the occasion of World Alzheimer's Day.
The film, written by Nuzzo himself with Eitan Pitigliani, is produced by Eduardo and Giuseppe Angeloni for An.tra.cine in association with Ferone Pietro & C., with the support of the Campania Region and Film Commission Regione Campania, and is distributed by Nexo Digital.
Gullotta is joined by Giovanna Rei, Beatrice Arnera, Erasmo Gensini, Tina Femiano, with the participation of Gigi Savoia and Tomas Arana. The protagonist, a retired orchestra conductor, spends his days in a luxury resort in the south of England. He lives with the fear that the disease could erase his past, the memories of his successes, but above all those of the love for his wife Amelia (Giovanna Rei), who died years before, and those of his daughter Michela (Beatrice Arnera) who he hopes to find one day in a place far from time.
Reality is confused between flashbacks and imaginary visions. Filmed between Naples, Sorrento and Caserta, 'Quel posto nel tempo' tells the story of Alzheimer's through the poetry of time passing, of memories that are erased and those that resurface, incoherent and irrational. The story comes from the development-study of the short film 'Lettere a mia figlie' winner of the special mention at the Nastri d'Argento, first prize at the Giffoni Film Festival and with over 140 awards worldwide.
The film also focuses on the musical contribution of the students of the Rovigo Conservatory together with Adriano Aponte, coordinated by the David di Donatello winners Marco Biscarini and Luca Leprotti.
