Atitech di Lettieri acquires Alitalia's maintenance branch. The company will absorb 940 workers.
The acquisition of the maintenance branch of Alitalia – the former Italian flag carrier now in extraordinary administration – by the Neapolitan MRO Atitech of Gianni Lettieri is a done deal.
The company based at Capodichino International Airport will absorb the 940 workers present in the Fiumicino complex and in Italian and foreign airports engaged in aircraft maintenance and reworking of aeronautical components. This was ratified by an agreement reached in the last few hours, after long negotiations, between the Neapolitan industry, the commissioners of Alitalia and the unions Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uiltrasporti and Ugl Trasporto aereo.
"The target – explains President Lettieri – remains to provide Italy with a strategic infrastructure in the field of aeronautical maintenance capable of offering turnkey solutions, as is already the case in the main European countries. The priority is to bring the main players in air traffic back to the Fiumicino hub, which intercepts an audience of international airlines, and to Capodichino, which is the gateway for aircraft that look with interest to the Mediterranean and the entire EMEA area, forced in recent years to look elsewhere for services that instead with punctuality and professionalism we can already offer today in Rome and Naples”.
From here the owner of the Neapolitan Mro (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) adds: “Inside Atitech and the former Alitalia there are in fact professionals and skills capable of satisfying the most varied needs of the carriers present on the market, in rapid times and ensuring very high quality standards. Know-how and expertise that we aim to enhance, also through continuous training interventions and the use of increasingly high-performance technologies”.
