Carabinieri officers at the Capri and Anacapri stations are targeting untrustworthy taxi drivers and their out-of-control fares. The initiative was launched following several reports from residents.

50 taxis and cars used for transportation that the Carabinieri have checked. Of these, 30 taxi drivers have been fined.

The violations included failure to display the fare card, turning off the taximeter without issuing a receipt for a predetermined fare, failure to display the taxi driver's identification card, and failure to display the number to contact for any complaints. 30 fines, not counting the 14 for not wearing a seat belt.

The total amount of the fines is not sensational, we are talking about "only" 2.700 euros, but the operation carried out by the military of the Arma was intended to give a strong signal of honesty on the part of the residents of Capri and Anacapri.
