Caserta, special waste treatment plant seized
A hazardous waste treatment facility in Portico di Caserta was seized for environmental violations by Carabinieri from the Marcianise Forestry Station. During a check to combat environmental crimes in the so-called Land of Fires, the officers observed a truck full of what appeared to be metal waste in a rural area in the municipality of Portico di Caserta.
The vehicle was registered to the waste treatment company and was authorized to transport only non-hazardous special waste, while the container contained visible hazardous special waste consisting of metals contaminated by used oil that gave off a strong odor of oil and solvents.

Waste of a different nature than authorized was found inside, and the owner was unable to provide documents certifying its origin. The police proceeded with the precautionary seizure of the entire facility and the truck full of waste, and reported the legal representative of the business, who is at liberty, for unlawful management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste and for ideological forgery committed by the private individual in a public document regarding a waste identification form that was found to be false regarding the classification of the waste being transported.
During the inspection, the military found three irregular workers and found several criminal violations regarding worker safety in the workplace.
