Caserta celebrates "September at the Borgo" fifty years after its birth with a sculpture created by the artist Gianni Pontillo.
The work - inaugurated yesterday evening in Casertavecchia, in the presence of local authorities - is located in Largo Belvedere (pine forest side).
"I thank Maestro Pontillo for having given the city a memory of this important fiftieth September at the Borgo that will remain in the history of Italian cultural festivals.i - said the mayor Carlo Marino - In recent days, Casertavecchia, with its history, its village, and its castle, has welcomed thousands of visitors, tourists, enthusiasts, industry professionals, and international journalists. This demonstrates that when we all work together, we can achieve great things for the common good.
"To celebrate this amazing milestone – commented the deputy mayor with responsibility for Events, Emiliano Casale – To mark the fiftieth anniversary of Settembre al Borgo, we commissioned Caserta-born sculptor Gianni Pontillo to create a work that will remind all tourists visiting the medieval village of Casertavecchia of the existence of Campania's longest-running festival, one of the first to intelligently blend song, dance, and theater.

With this work - Said Enzo Avitabile, artistic director of the fiftieth edition of Settembre al Borgo - we pay homage to its past, looking to the future. It is not a point of arrival but a new beginning, an aspiration that tends to consecrate the cultural, as well as symbolic, value of the oldest festival in Campania. A work that bears witness to the dialogue of Casertavecchia with the world and its worlds, with its gaze turned towards a future of multi-ethnic community, of respect and love without differences".
