Salerno, mushroom hunters in the cliff, saved by Alpine Rescue. One injured on Mount Polveracchio.
Mushroom hunters fall into a ravine and are saved by technicians from the Campania Alpine and Speleological Rescue. The 118 operations center in Salerno alerted the Rescue (Cnsas) for an injured person on Mount Polveracchio.
The man, originally from Eboli, had gone mushroom hunting with his son. The young man slipped and his father, in an attempt to help him, fell in turn, causing various traumas to his upper limbs and chest. In support of the Cnsas, the 118 helicopter rescue service from Salerno also took off and proceeded to disembark the crew, composed of a technician, doctor and nurse, with no small difficulty in the thick vegetation.
The man was stabilized and placed on a stretcher by paramedics and constantly assisted, given the severity of the trauma he had suffered. Unfortunately, the weather conditions changed rapidly and it was not possible to recover the other injured person using the helicopter winch. The Cnsas ground team then reached the site by making a long descent of about a thousand meters.
The recovery operations of the injured man did not stop with the arrival of the evening and after more than four hours the stretcher arrived on a dirt road near Acerno, where it was taken in charge by the 118 ambulance.
The operations were facilitated by some local experts who contributed with their off-road vehicles to move the Cnsas personnel. Also valid was the support from the men of the Mountain Rescue of Giffoni Vale Piana who supported the technicians of the Alpine and Speleological Rescue of Campania.
