They started in Amalfi Coast The sets for "The Equalizer 3," the sequel to the Sony Pictures action movie starring Denzel Washington, are under construction. The Oscar-winning actress Dakota Fanning will be starring alongside the actor, twenty years after her role in the action thriller "Man on Fire."
Director Antoine Fuqua had already anticipated that the film would be shot in Italy, in "seaside towns." Three of the towns of the "Divine" area convinced the director: Minori, Ravello, and Atrani. This characteristic coastal village, the smallest municipality in Italy by area, served as the main setting.
For a few days now, bars, restaurants, and shops in the Atrani square have been closed to allow set designers to adapt the setting to Fuqua's wishes, who, after several site inspections in recent weeks, has provided clear guidance.

Francesco Costabile's "Family" is Italy's 2026 Oscar nominee: a powerful drama to represent Italy.
To reach the little church clinging to the rock, the director climbed over 700 steps from the village square. The plot of the third installment of the popular action saga is still top secret. Filming begins next Monday at Cinecitta'. Filming on the Amalfi Coast is scheduled from October 10th to November 20th, with the production's logistical base in the arena of the Maiori tourist port.
The extras have already been selected during a casting call held on September 5th in Maiori. Denzel Washington will be on set from day one: he has reserved a luxury private villa in the heart of the Amalfi Coast for his stay. The set will move to Naples in early December, while the final part of the film will be shot in Rome, with an expected wrap in mid-January. The film will be shot almost entirely in Italy.
To secure the closure of the businesses in the square to make way for the film set during a still-proportionate tourist season, the production company has guaranteed generous compensation to the managers. For approximately two months, the heart of the village will be exclusively used by the production company, much to the chagrin of the non-hotel owners, who are embarrassed by their guests, who complain of being in a ghost town. This is what happened last year during the filming of "Ripley."
