The sites of the Pompeii Archaeological Park will participate on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September 2022 in the GEP – European Heritage Days, an event that includes extraordinary openings and initiatives in all Italian museums and cultural sites, this year dedicated to the theme: “Sustainable cultural heritage: a legacy for the future”.
For the occasion, initiatives will be planned that, in line with the theme of the days, will focus in particular on the theme of greenery in Pompeii and Stabia, an extraordinary heritage of the Park's sites, which is alongside the archaeological one in its management and valorization.
On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th from 10,00 to 13,00 in Pompeii the opening of the Vivaio della Casa di Pansa will be scheduled, a green heart and new production center for many species of Pompeian flora that are difficult to find in other nurseries, botanical rarities, ancient species cultivated according to the techniques used in ancient Pompeii.
The art gardener Maurizio Bartolini will be available to the public to illustrate and explain the cultivated species.
At Villa Arianna, instead, on Saturday 24th at 15,00:XNUMX pm, a theoretical lesson on pruning and ancient pruning techniques will be held, held by the staff of Unaprol and Aprol Campania and Maurizio Bartolini, in order to stimulate and enhance awareness on the issues of biodiversity and the protection of green heritage.
Unaprol is one of the largest consortia operating at national and EU level, recognized by the Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies as an "Association of Producers' Organizations" in the olive oil and table olive sectors, committed to the Park, on the basis of an agreement, in supporting and promoting olive production.
For the evening of Saturday 24 September, from 20pm to 23pm, extraordinary openings are planned in all the sites of the Park with admission at €1.
In Pompeii, the nighttime stroll through the Forum area—illuminated by Enel Sole—is once again offered, with its monumental public buildings for the city's administration and justice, for business management, for commercial activities such as markets, as well as the city's main places of worship.

In Oplontis, at the monumental Villa of Poppea, in addition to access to the Villa, it will also be possible to request a free thematic tour led by the Oplontis Historical Group "The Slave Market." The tour will take place in the rustic peristyle, while two young musicians from the Liceo musicale Pitagora-Croce of Torre Annunziata will play violin and flute in the southern garden.

Villa Regina in Boscoreale offers, in collaboration with the Bosco de' Medici company, themed visits dedicated to ancient vine growing and winemaking techniques.
The tour, titled "From the rustic villa... to the winery - A multi-millennial winemaking journey," led by an archaeologist, will illustrate Roman winemaking practices, which will be compared with the most recent production techniques based on eco-sustainable environmental management.
