Ischia, Bus travels with open doors: Eav opens an investigation

IschiaEav Bus, a company of the Campania regional transport holding, has opened an investigation into the case of the bus that Ischia continued to serve despite having a door blown off following a collision.

The incident occurred on July 23 and came to light after a girl traveling on the bus recently posted a video on TikTok—which quickly went viral—in which the bus can clearly be seen traveling through the streets of Ischia with its doors open.

The incident stemmed from a previous collision between the bus and a truck, which initially caused the side window of the public transport vehicle to shatter. To free himself, the EAV driver allegedly reversed, causing the side door to break. The public transport vehicle was operating the C12 route in the upper part of Ischia Porto. A group of young tourists were on board, apparently returning to their hotel. The driver apparently decided not to stop so as not to leave them in a remote area overnight. For this reason, he continued on to the depot with the passengers on board.

The company has opened an internal investigation into the matter, requesting an official explanation from the employee, a driver with over 30 years of service. EAV itself emphasizes that, due to the damage sustained by the vehicle, a formal complaint has been initiated and that it is awaiting the outcome of the internal investigation and the driver's explanation before taking all the necessary measures required by law.
