Late yesterday afternoon, September 17, 2022, a report arrived on the 1530 Emergency at Sea number of the Port Authority of Naples, which promptly alerted the Operations Room of the Coast Guard of Ischia, regarding the presence at sea off the coast of Ischia of a bather who was swimming with significant difficulty.
The Operations Room of the Maritime District Office of Ischia ordered the immediate intervention of the SAR unit CP 807 in order to search for the person in difficulty. Once they reached the area off the coast of the Castello Aragonese, the searches began, made even more complex as they were carried out during the evening hours and due to the particular weather and sea conditions with waves and strong currents in a south-westerly direction that pushed the unfortunate person towards the open sea.
Also thanks to the support of further reports and indications from people positioned above, the unfortunate woman was located approximately 1 mile from the coast by the MV CP SAR 807 and promptly recovered.

The device implemented by the Port Authority Corps - Coast Guard is the maximum expression of the performance of Search and Rescue (SAR) tasks aimed at protecting and safeguarding human life at sea. It is recommended that all sea users carry out a preventive check of the marine weather conditions before bathing, so as not to run into potentially dangerous situations.
