Liber Fest: books for free thought, author talks in Camerota. The first event will be held on Saturday, September 17th, at 21:00 PM.
This is a series of weekly author meetings that will take place in the rooms of Palazzo Santa Maria, in Camerota.
The project, promoted by the Fondazione CREA Meeting del Mare and the Municipality of Camerota, aims to convey, through the disruptive force of the words of the guest authors, thoughts and suggestions capable of opening us up to new visions and sensitizing us to the urgent issues of contemporaneity.
" Books have always been a vehicle for messages, for thoughts, a communication tool that brings together an idea and its dissemination among readers, " says Giangaetano Petrillo, deputy mayor of Camerota. " I believe that public administrations, especially those closest to citizens like municipalities, have a moral duty to address the pressing needs of everyday life in a historical period like the one we are experiencing, where rights won through years of struggle are being called into question, where freedom of expression, sexual orientation, and opinion are being denied in several countries, even in the civilized Western world. We will do so by inaugurating the first edition of this Liber Fest, which plays on the word "book," as a tool always used to convey thoughts and ideas, and the concept of "freedom," with the aim of constantly questioning ourselves about contemporary life and the new challenges that await us."
On Saturday 17th we will talk about freedom together with Loreta Mastrolonardo, author of the novel “La ballata di Maria Gemella”, who will tell the stories of Rosalia, Livia and Caterina, and of a long and exhausting search for freedom that began in a small town in Cilento.
