Tomato books, culture, history and identity through food in the new Neapolitan stage of the ArteSì project. Saturday 17 September at 11 am at the Libreria IoCiSto.
Art, culture, literature, music and food and wine excellence. All the 'ingredients' of the ArteSì project are present in its new Neapolitan stage, “Libri al pomodoro”, which will take place on Saturday 17 September at 11 am in the outdoor space of the Libreria IoCiSto in Piazzetta Aldo Masullo in Naples.
The protagonists of the event will be four important Neapolitan writers, authors of four books dedicated to the world of food with a specific involvement of the tomato. They are the historian Angelo Forgione (Il Re di Napoli, Magenes editions), the Rai journalist Maurizio Landi (Ricette per soli uomini, Inknot publisher), the psychotherapist Oscar Nicolaus (A tavola con Maradona, Il leone verde editions) and the actor Patrizio Rispo, (Un pasto al sole, Guida editori).
During the meeting, promoted by the organic company NaturaSì together with the cultural association IoCiSto and the numerous partners of the ArteSì project, the writers will engage with the public in a debate stimulated and coordinated by researcher Patrizia Spigno, agronomist of the Arcabio cooperative of Acerra specialized in ancient horticultural seeds and biodiversity, especially in the field of San Marzano tomatoes. The writers will present their books through readings, stories and anecdotes that have the tomato as the protagonist.
“The Piedmontese army invaded Naples with weapons. Neapolitan identity invaded Italy with tomatoes”. One of the most famous aphorisms from “Il Re di Napoli” by Angelo Forgione highlights the strong identity value of the tomato in Neapolitan culture. A theme from which the discussion will start, which will also be animated by the musical contribution of the kids from “Musica libera tutti. Pratiche quotidiano per crescere insieme a Scampia a suon di musica”, the music pedagogy project born inside the Hurtado Center, a point of reference for educational, cultural and training activities in Scampia. And on Saturday morning, the Hurtado Center will also organize a market of paper products in the rooms of the IoCiSto bookshop.

Food culture and making culture by talking about food. Precisely one of the distinctive features of the innovative project ArtYes, born in the womb of Nature Yes with the collaboration of art therapist Manuela Micheletti. The aim is to enhance the cultural and philosophical aspects underlying organic and biodynamic agricultural production.
“Culture must fertilize the economy. This happens thanks to man who, living on culture, brings the necessary strength into economic life”. This is how Fabio Brescacin, president of NaturaSì, summarizes the value of the ArteSì project that through photography, comics, art and archaeology exhibitions, tastings, markets of local artisan products and organic foods, art courses for the little ones and reading of fairy tales, scientific insights, moments of music, readings and recitations, stories and tales of life, of care and social regeneration, has chosen Naples and the Campania Felix area for its first diffusion experiments.
A project that, with the patronage of the Municipality of Naples and the Municipalities I and VIII, has already created a dense network of local businesses, associations and institutions including: Centro Hurtado, Cooperativa Lazzarelle, independent popular bookshop “IoCiSto”, "Scuola Italiana di Comix", AQUAS Association (Scampia District Animation), IPAM (Pontano Institute of Arts and Crafts), Consorzio NCO (New Organized Cooperation), Inner Wheel International-Club of Naples Luisa Bruni, cooperatives AldilàdeiSogni, Fuori di Zucca, Arca 2010, La Roccia - Giovani di Scampia Onlus, OSO, Fatto@Scampia, Fondazione Seminare Il Futuro and Terre di Ecor.
"IoCiSto enthusiastically joined this project," says President Claudia Migliore, "because we believe that everything we are and what nourishes us comes through storytelling, writing, and reading. Writing intersects with taste not only in the traditional way, through recipes, but also in recounting stories, memories, and experiences."
