Severe weather in Naples: the owners of all the shops on the Riviera di Chiaia have suffered the most damage from the torrential rain that hit the city and its province.
The connecting road parallel to the Villa Comunale was invaded by sea water and rain that accumulated due to blocked manholes. The shops on the ground floor were flooded and the water rose more than half a meter. Barbers, shoemakers, watchmakers, hardware stores, two banks, several bars, a kiosk, all damaged, as well as many parked scooters. In Via Marina, partly closed, two trees fell and overwhelmed parked cars.
In via Marina a tree fell on two cars. The water level rose with the heavy rain in the streets until it reached the wheels of cars and vans in some places. Technicians and local police officers are working to provide directions to citizens and trying to clean the drainage channels at the side of the road from branches and mud to allow the water to flow. In the gulf the wind has swelled the incoming sea and is moving waves and gullies against the coast.
As almost always happens, Borgo Vergini in the Sanità district has become a river in flood due to the water pouring down from Via Cristallini. Flooding also in Vomero where the water has invaded the shops and caused damage to the bars with outdoor seating.

It happened in the late morning in Torre del Greco in the area near via Litoranea, where the heavy rain flooded the underpasses of the artery parallel to the seafront built when the level crossings of the Ferrovie dello Stato were closed.
Municipal police officers allowed the vehicle's occupants to exit from the rear, which fortunately remained unimpeded. Traffic in the area was paralyzed for some time, with red lights indicating no entry. "We were cut off," protested one motorist. "Personally, I wasn't able to reach the lower part of Via Mortelle. And to think that this road was created specifically to connect the two areas previously connected by level crossings."
