Music for Change, the finalists of the thirteenth edition and two challengers.
Music for Change, the most important European music award with a civil background, reveals the 8 names of the finalists who will access the final stages of the competition, starting the path of training and artistic preparation in view of the highly sought-after final on October 15 at the Teatro Rendano in Cosenza.
They are Riva (Pomigliano d'Arco NA), Heren Wolf (Montemiletto AV), Kyotolp (Bari), Vandarko (Sessa Aurunca Ce), Esdra (Palermo), Olivia Xx (Terni), Alo (Milan) Luk (Naples), the artists selected during the live auditions of the Mood Social Club of Rende (CS), by the jury formed by Gennaro de Rosa, artistic director of Music for Change, Gianni Maroccolo, producer and musician, Maurizio Capone, eco-pioneer musician and founder of BungtBangt, the first musical-environmentalist collective born in Italy, Cecilia Cesario, vocal coach, already with this role in the Amici school, and Stefano Amato, musician and composer of Brunori Sas.
Together with the 8 finalists, the jury has also selected 2 Challengers, the artists Frenesi (Turin) and Quaranta (Pomigliano d'Arco NA) who on October 9th will try to take the place of two of the finalists, in the race towards the final.
From this moment on, the competition gets into full swing, opening the phase of the famous Sound BoCS, the artistic residency in BoCS Art, the creative district of Music for Change immersed in the greenery, a few steps from the historic center of Cosenza: a real music farm where the finalists, from October 4th to 15th, will be able to record their song in professional recording studios and prepare for the final working side by side with experts and first-rate guests from the world of music who will intervene in those days, animating the residency with a series of events.
An absolute novelty this year is the format of the residency itself, which for the first time is transformed into a real film and television set, with a crew dedicated to following the entire course of the residency to document each phase, with contributions and interviews with the artists and guests. An experience from which an unpublished docu-series will be created that will be presented exclusively on the occasion of the awards ceremony scheduled at Casa Sanremo, during the Italian Song Festival in February 2023.
And in this edition, Radio for Change is also born, the first official web radio of the event, designed to spread stories, thoughts and “noises” of the award, together with its message of civil commitment at any latitude, with exclusive programs, a daily radio news and 24-hour programming.
In this creative context, the finalists will have to build their own song by choosing from the themes that characterize Music for Change: Resistance and Democracy, Environment and Ecology, Digital Citizenship (and Derivatives), Gender Equality and LGBTQ+ Rights, Work and Dignity, Migration and Peoples, Inequalities and Social Marginality, Regeneration and Future.
In this preparation for the final, the artists will be accompanied by four coaches: Cecilia Cesario, Stefano Amato, Maurizio Musumeci aka Dinastia, artist and author of well-known songs such as "Parole in circolo" by Marco Mengoni, J-AX, and Francesco Guasti, among others; and Leo Curiale, music producer, composer, and record producer.

Finally, among the new features of this year's Prize finals is Culture for Change, a literary festival (PAC Calabria 2014/2020), a spin-off of Music for Change, capable of engaging in an original dialogue with the venues that host it through the creation of immersive and emotionally impactful installations. Culture for Change will take users inside books, with the formats "Journey into the Book" and "Artists on Showcase": a journey balanced between virtual and real, aiming to offer a fresh perspective through the eyes and imagination of those who, by their vocation, investigate and seek original paths to look to the future.
THE PROGRAM of Sound BoCS, Music for Change
From 4 to 8 October 2022
From 5 to 7 October the finalists will have the opportunity to meet with leading figures in the world of music production and authorship: 3 Executive Coaches whose first two names are already known: this edition, Giuseppe Anastasi, Italian singer-songwriter and author, and teacher at the CET Scuola di Mogol, who has written for Arisa, Francesco Baccini, Anna Tatangelo, Michele Bravi, Emma and many others; and Marco Messina, from the band 99 Posse, producer with an electronic background, composer of soundtracks, teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples.
Another important moment of training and comparison will be on 7 and 8 October, when thanks to the now consolidated partnership with the Tenco Prize, the Club Tenco board will listen to the 8 finalists to assign the “Special Mention”, in two sessions of the Tenco Ascolta with two special guest artists, winners in turn of two partner festivals of Music for Change: Noe (winner of Musica da Bere) and Malamore (winners of Direzione 1 Maggio Taranto 2022).
While the anticipation for the final at the Teatro Rendano in Cosenza is growing, the Music for Change organization has already revealed the name of the artist who will host the evening in which the 8 artists who reached the final will finally perform on stage. It will be Avincola, one of the most promising artists on the Roman scene, loved and appreciated especially by the younger audience.
