Naples. "What did you put in the coffee I drank at your place?" sang Riccardo Del Turco in the 1960s. And this is the question an elderly man who's been the victim of a scam might ask himself.
In Naples, coffee is no longer just a symbol of tradition, courtesy and friendship, but also a way to deceive others.
In fact, on the seafront of Via Caracciolo an elderly man was drugged with coffee and then robbed.
It is the man's nephew who tells the story to the Regional Councilor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli:
“On the seafront at the height of Via Caracciolo, while my grandfather, who is almost 80 years old, was on the beach having a swim and spending some time in peace, a man of about 50 years old approached him and tried to make friends by bringing him a coffee which however was laced with a narcotic substance.

We urge law enforcement to promptly track down the individual who, in order to steal gold, risks killing or otherwise injuring his victims. We learned from the family of the drugged and robbed man that he is now hospitalized at Cardarelli Hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery. comments Borrelli together with the radio host of la Radiazza Gianni Simioli.
“Nowadays, people steal and commit crimes at any time of the day, even in front of witnesses. This says a lot about our judicial situation. Too many crimes go unpunished. It’s time to change the record.”
