Naples. Nurse attacked in the Santobono emergency room by a mother, Borrelli (Europa Verde): “Very harsh penalties for those who beat doctors and devastate hospitals, it is absurd to attack those who want to help us”
“Last Friday, September 16, around 21,30:XNUMX p.m., a colleague of mine was verbally and physically attacked by a mother,” said Federica, a nurse at the Santobono Pausilipon pediatric hospital, who contacted Councilor Borrelli after witnessing the attack on a colleague in the emergency room.
“The lady jumped on the nurse just because she was doing her job well. The fuse was triggered by a car that arrived at the emergency room at full speed with a teenager on board who was having a critical episode and was clearly in red code.
At that point my colleague immediately jumped up from her chair to go and deal with the emergency, which didn't go down well with the protagonist of the attack who, seeing herself being passed over, began to insult, push and pull the nurse's hair.

A scene that shocked me and that unfortunately happens too often in hospitals in Campania. Every time something like this happens we ask ourselves if it is worth exposing ourselves to these risks, if it is worth doing it for €1.700 a month, if it is worth being insulted every day and being attacked by 60 parents while waiting for their children to be examined. Many times we feel discouraged and without the strength to go on”. Federica concluded.
The regional councilor of Europa Verde, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who commented as follows: “For years we have been fighting to obtain very severe penalties for those who attack doctors and nurses or damage hospitals. Showing an iron fist against these criminals, who even attack the people who are there to help them, is the only way to stem and prevent further violence.
What happened at Santobono is only the latest in a very long series of episodes of aggression against healthcare personnel; the time has come to say enough."
