NapoliThere will be seven master pastry chefs who will compete on Monday 12th September in Napoli to win the title of winner of the fifth edition of the pastry contest 'San Genna'un Dolce per San Gennaro'.
The successful contestants are Giusy Avallone, of the Avallone pastry shop in Quarto; Giusy Persico, of the team at the Michelin-starred restaurant Il Buco in Sorrento; Guglielmo Cavezza, owner of the Pasticceria Mommy Cafe in Cicciano; Raffaele Cristiano, of the artisanal pastry shop Raffaele Cristiano in Barra; Giovanni Giordano, pastry chef at Sal De Riso Costa D'Amalfi in Minori; Aniello Iervolino, pastry chef at the Regina Isabella in Ischia; and Ilaria Inchingolo, of the Openlight café in Andria.

Many of the 30 creations dedicated to the patron saint of Naples in previous editions have become, in their own right, stars of Neapolitan pastry making and beyond. Before the grand finale, the dedicated desserts can be tasted in various pastry shops, and Angelo Maria Tramontano, who moved to New York to the 'La Devozione' restaurant on 16th St, will present his "E' sang e nun e' acqua" (It's Blood and It's Not Water) in the Big Apple, the 2020 contest winner.
This year's contest once again enjoys the moral patronage of the Accademia Maestri Pasticceri Italiani, the most respected national association in the field. The judging panel includes Luigi Biasetto, Relais Dessert; Antonio Daloisio, master pastry chef from Puglia; and Antimo Caputo, CEO of Mulino Caputo.
