Napoli. On Monday 26 September, at 18.30 pm, "Minors and vulnerable people: protection, listening, prevention" will start, the basic training course promoted by the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy of Napoli (PFTIM) - Section of St. Thomas Aquinas and the Giustino Fortunato University of Benevento, co-funded by the Service for Higher Studies in Theology and Religious Sciences of the Italian Episcopal Conference and implemented in collaboration with the Department of Law of the Luigi Vanvitelli University of Campania.

The meetings will all be held online on Monday evenings from 18.30:20.30 to 1:2 pm, from September to November. The series of meetings will conclude with a two-day reflection session on December XNUMXst and XNUMXnd. The training program is free and open to all and is aimed primarily at youth service workers, catechists and pastoral workers, youth leaders and educators, members of groups, movements, associations, teachers, and students, as well as anyone interested in the topics covered. The goal is to educate and inform themselves on some basic content, essential for anyone working or operating in various capacities in activities and services for or with minors.

"The basic course initiative," stated Professor Giuseppe Acocella, Professor of the University of Fortunato, "on the protection, listening, and prevention of minors and vulnerable individuals builds on a program that the Giustino Fortunato University of Benevento has long been strengthening, addressing key issues for a society that seeks to empower all members of the community, starting with the most vulnerable. The synergy that has emerged around this initiative, which unites the worlds of academia, religious denominations, associations, and civil society, is an important sign of the great need for networking around such crucial issues."

Particular satisfaction was expressed by the coordinators of the project and the course, professors Antonio Foderaro (PFTIM), Paolo Palumbo (Unifortunato), Ida D'Ambrosio (Unifortunato) and Carmine Matarazzo (PFTIM), as well as by the members of the research group, professors Antonio Fuccillo, Raffaele Santoro, Raffaele De Luca Picione, Elvira Martini, Silvia De Marco, Fabrizio Corona and Giovanni Tagliaferro.

"The work of the Theological Faculty in favor of minors - declared Don Francesco Asti, Dean of the St. Thomas Aquinas section of the PFTIM - is the natural reflection of a full-scale commitment of the entire Church, at local and global levels, against every form of abuse of the most vulnerable subjects of our society. It is a commitment rooted in the Gospel, which has seen us for several years on the front line in the promotion of studies and initiatives in defense of the most fragile in the territory".

At the moment there are already over 500 registered from all over Italy and it is still possible to participate by sending an email of participation to eventi@unifortunato.eu. Those who take part in at least 75% of the meetings will be given a certificate of participation. The course is also accredited by the MIUR and the Bar Association for the training and updating of school personnel of all levels and lawyers.

Many organizations and associations have agreed to support, sponsor, and share the goals of the project, including: the Italian Data Protection Authority, the Italian Islamic Confederation, the Jewish Community of Naples, the Meter Association led by Don Fortunato Di Noto, the Campania Region's Children's Ombudsman, the Campania Corecom, the Campania Order of Psychologists, the Third Sector Forum, the Campania National Olympic Committee (CONI), USAcli, IPSEF, UNICEF, Telefono Azzurro Cam, the Cammino Association, the Campania ACLI, ECPAT Italia, the National Observatory on Family Law, the Benevento Bar Association, and the SpazioAperto Association.
