New screening cycle at the FRaC Museum for the VISIONNAIRE22 festival and concert by Simona Boo.

Following the masterclass with Maestro Aurelio Canonici dedicated to the music of Ennio Morricone, the screenings of the docu-film ENNIO by director Giuseppe Tornatore, "DeAndrè #DeAndrè Storia di un impiegato" by director Roberta Lena and "La Nuova Scuola Genovese" by Yvan Dellacasa and Paolo Fossati, Visionnaire22 resumes, the audiovisual festival born from the synergy between the FRaC-Baronissi Museum (Regional Fund of Contemporary Art) directed by Massimo Bignardi, and the Tutti Suonati association, with the patronage and contribution of the Municipality of Baronissi.

The artistic direction is by Andrea Avagliano, the cinematographic consultancy by Massimiliano Palmese.

The next two events will also focus on screenings and discussions dedicated to the wonderful world of Italian music: the first will be on singer-songwriter Giovanna Marini, the Italian Joan Baez, and the second on Ornella Vanoni, known as "The Lady of Italian Song." Simona Boo's concert, which pays homage to Brazilian music, is also scheduled.

On Thursday, September 8th (starting at 20 pm, free admission), there will be an evening entitled "Women in Music" with a screening of the documentary film "Giovanna. Stories of a Voice." Director Chiara Ronchini will be the guest speaker, and she will be in conversation with journalist Stefano Valanzuolo (RAI Radio 3 Suite).
Giovanna Marini is part of the group of so-called political singer-songwriters like Ivan Della Mea, Ernesto Bassignano, and Paolo Pietrangeli, with whom she shared the first part of her musical career.

Between the mid-1960s and the late 1970s, Marini produced some of the key songs of the youth political protests that were moving "to the left." From the well-known "Contessa," in which she sang backing vocals, to the modern version of "Bella Ciao," included in the Nuovo Canzoniere Italiano show of the same name, which premiered at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto.

Giovanna, stories of a voice is a documentary focusing on the Roman singer-songwriter, already an expert in ethnomusicology and Italian folk music.

A woman who dedicated her entire life to music, not only artistically but also academically. A symbol of the pursuit of Italian folk music, since 1958 Marini has composed, collected, and performed several songs from the oral tradition of the Bel Paese. This collection is a concentration of people's voices and stories, which tell the story of Italy as it once was. Born in the late 30s, a young Giovanna Marini lived through the turbulent 60s, accompanied only by a guitar. But her story is inevitably intertwined with that of our country and its popular soundtrack.

This week's second event is Sunday, September 11 (starting at 20:99 p.m., free admission), an evening titled "Women in Music." The event will feature Ornella Vanoni, known as "the lady of Italian song." Director Elisa Fuksas's documentary film, "Senza Fine," will be hosted by Professor Alfonso Amendola (UniSa) for a cross-cutting discussion on the role of women in the world of Italian music. This will be followed by live music with Simona Boo (XNUMX Posse), who will perform with guitarist Luigi Orlando a repertoire of Brazilian music that pays homage to the poet Vinícius de Moraes and the great composer Jobim, interpreting classics of bossa nova and other great Brazilian music.

"Senza Fine" is a documentary and cinematic work by writer and director Elisa Fuksas. The footage begins with her meeting Ornella Vanoni at a service station to propose shooting a film in which she will star. The set then changes to the elegant Health Clinic & Grand Hotel in Castrocaro, a spa opened in the late 1930s. Here, the singer is also welcomed by a doctor, to whom she shares her lifestyle habits, behind opaque glass. Between a fruit smoothie, a dip in the pool, a posture lesson, and stage directions, she confides a little, often sings songs, and receives visits from friends Paolo Fresu, Vinicio Capossela, and Samuele Bersani. Meanwhile, the director and crew, for the most part, respect and wait for her time, with obvious consequences for the production schedule.

Written by Elisa Fuksas and Monica Rametta, like their previous and more personal iSola (2020), Senza fine is first and foremost a display of audacity: attempting to frame in a film a multifaceted and colossal career and an exuberant personality like Ornella Vanoni requires a certain boldness. Even more so, if you're from outside Milan.
