The 65 people for whom the Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating are accused of various charges of aggravated fraud for obtaining public funds and forgery for having unduly received disability pensions. Santa Maria Capua Vetere (substitute Sergio Occhionero) requested the referral to trial.
The preliminary hearing will be held on March 14, 2023.

According to the Prosecutor's Office and the Guardia di Finanza, which conducted the investigation, the focus of the investigation is a doctor—whose position has been removed and who is being prosecuted separately—who, in his capacity as president of the INPS commission, allegedly certified false disability pension claims, thus allowing wealthy individuals to receive undue financial support. INPS's cooperation in the investigation was crucial, and it also revoked benefits from the recipients involved in the investigation.
