The Cantieri station on the Cumana railway line in the Pozzuoli area will be permanently closed starting October 3rd. The Autonomous Volturno Authority announced this, stating: "the closure was necessary to continue the work to double the line."
"The works - underlines a note issued by the EAV press office - will allow the railway line to be upgraded, with the construction of the new passenger building at Pozzuoli station, followed by work on the new station and the doubling of the line up to Cantieri, as well as the regulatory upgrade of Gerolomini station."
To proceed with the closure of the Cantieri station, as we learn from the transport company, it is necessary to carry out the appropriate adjustments to the equipment on the railway line, which must be carried out without trains running.

The train service will instead be regularly guaranteed between Montesanto and Fuorigrotta, according to the timetable currently in force, while on the section between Fuorigrotta and Torregaveta a replacement bus service will be established (timetables can be consulted on the Eav website).

The program includes the design and execution of the completion works for the doubling of the railway line along a section of approximately five kilometers. In addition to the railway equipment work for the new track, the project also includes the construction of two new stations, a tunnel approximately 500 meters long (the Monte Olibano tunnel), the consolidation of sections of the slope above the railway line, and the upgrade of safety systems in the tunnels along the line.
