Hundreds of boats in Chiaia Bay, in Procida, in the middle of a marine protected area.
This is the complaint—documented by video—by regional councilor Francesco Emilio Borrelli, of Europa Verde, who also reports a new sewage spill in Nisida and the deterioration on the Mergellina rocks.
"Yet another video was sent to me by a swimmer from Procida which reveals the invasion, by vessels of various sizes, of Chiaia Bay in the middle of a protected marine area", says Borrelli.
It looks like a water parking lot, a wall of boats blocking the view of the horizon for those on the beach. In the video, a motorized dinghy, passing close to the shore among the swimmers, is towing a mattress full of people towards the boats.
This isn't the first video complaint about Procida this summer, where there are likely few enforcements, fueling bullies' belief that they can break all the rules.

Councilor Borrelli also posted two photos writing that "The Cala Badessa sewer has collapsed again, and all the wastewater is flowing into the sea between Gaiola Trentaremi and Nisida."But there's also an emergency in Mergellina, where the rocks "act as a garbage dump.
For the barbarians who invade our seafront, one of the most beautiful in the world - says Borrelli, together with the councilors of the I Municipality of the Sole che Ride Gianni Caselli and Lorenzo Pascucci - Rocks are the perfect place to dump your waste, which will inevitably end up in the sea, destroying the ecosystem. We can't say there's a lack of information about how certain behaviors are detrimental to the planet's health, but many people don't care.
Besides, the image of our city doesn't deserve to be tarnished in this way. Outrage and anger aren't enough; we must take action to stem the tide of those who destroy and destroy such beauty. Let's proceed with heavy fines and concrete, consistent measures to re-educate those who resist civilization.
