Reports and subsequent bans are coming for around twenty fans who yesterday afternoon were the protagonists of a shameful brawl at the Vigiliante Varone municipal stadium in Sant'Antonio Abate, during the first half of the match valid for the Campania Eccellenza Italian Cup between the local team and Sporting Ercolano.
Some fans present gave each other a real beating on the pitch, forcing the referee to suspend the match when the score was 1-3 for the visitors.
The carabinieri who intervened on the scene are examining the images and those posted on social media to identify the protagonists of the shameful brawl.
Below is the press release from Sant'Antonio Abate:
"ASD AC Sant'Antonio Abate 1971 initially communicates that it distances itself from any form of violence that occurred today.
Subsequently we express our closeness and solidarity to the young Abatese fan attacked outside the sports facility by the visiting "fans" who forcefully took his shirt, the same ones who attacked the stewards present outside the away sector by entering without buying a ticket. At that moment the company promptly notified the Carabinieri.
Once inside, the visiting “fans” tried to access the pitch to try to reach the local fans, but were unsuccessful.

The same gesture was repeated at the end of the first half of the game, this time managing to access the pitch by forcing the barriers and reaching the stands of the Sant'Antonio fans. Even though SC Ercolanese was winning, this confirmed that the intention of the visiting "fans" was premeditated.
At that point the situation degenerated with clashes between the two sets of fans.
Once the scuffles had ended thanks to the intervention of the Police and the stewards present, the Race Director, in agreement with the Carabinieri, decided to suspend the match.
As they were leaving their sector, the visiting “fans” once again threw stones at a Carabiniere.
Sant'Antonio Abate reiterates that it distances itself from these types of violence, which do not represent the true values of this sport.
We are aware that we ASD AC Sant'Antonio Abate 1971, Sporting Club Ercolanese and the Municipality of Sant'Antonio Abate are injured parties in what happened.
Finally, the club is evaluating the possibility of withdrawing the team from the Championship if these are the values that represent this category."
