The incident occurred around 4.30:118 a.m.: the cleaner was accompanied by his team leader when he saw the scene and warned the man, who, however, fought back, kicking and punching him. Emergency responders and the Carabinieri arrived on the scene after the attack. The cleaner was taken to Ruggi Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a hematoma over his left eye and bruises to his back and left ankle.
Salerno Pulita's sole director, Vincenzo Bennet, expressed his solidarity with the employee and announced that the company would support him in filing a complaint against unknown persons with the police authorities: "This isn't the first time one of our employees has been attacked while calling on someone to respect the rules. I remind you that the decorum and cleanliness of the city also depend on everyone's commitment."
