Theater, presentation of the 2022/2023 theater season of NEST: "Come and discover our aces"
“As a child, the first game you usually learn is the ace-takes-all. And you think that in life you have to try to be an ace, not so much to take everything, but rather to be able to choose what to take. We, adults now, have chosen our aces this year, the talents that will tread the boards of the Nest and participate in that great collective pact that is the theater. Now it's up to you to discover them. It's up to you to play the right card to win the rich dish of culture. With the awareness that the ace in the tradition of Neapolitan cartomancy is a symbol of success, prestige, honor and benevolence.
Play your game, come and discover our aces”.
Also this year the formula includes 2 shows per month, except in the month of October, where on October 6th we will start with a season preview where Nest Napoli Est Teatro in collaboration with Argot Produzioni, will present the second phase of the III edition of OVER / Emergenze teatrali in the Neapolitan hall from October 6th to 8th 2022, in a three-day event full of shows, meetings and reflections on the new Italian theatrical panorama.
OVER / Emergenze teatrali was designed to enhance the experience of artists who are trying to establish themselves professionally in the world of live entertainment and performing arts. The Neapolitan phase will see on stage in a completed form 2 of the shows presented in Rome, selected by a participatory artistic direction composed of the boys and girls of Dominio Pubblico and Giovani O'Nest (NIU Teatro) of NEST.
The companies in question are the BEstand collective, which will stage the show UCCELLI DI PASSO on October 6, and the Impegnöso/Röhl/Sësti company, which will perform the show TONNO E CARCIOFINI-una storia di Wrestling on October 8.
On October 7th, from 11:00 to 18:00, companies, operators, critics and young students will meet to reflect and debate on the current Italian theatre system. The Focus on the system of production, promotion, distribution and theatre programming will also be the occasion to present the book Produrre teatro in Italia, pratiche poetiche politici edited by Francesca D'Ippolito.
On October 15th and 16th, the Nest season will kick off with Hamelin, a family-friendly show by Tonio De Nitto inspired by The Pied Piper by the Brothers Grimm.

October 19th and 20th will be the days of PeerGynTrip, an imaginative tale that always overlaps with itself, performed on a stage composed of a large patchwork of mixed skins and furs that resemble reindeer. Rosario Lisma is “Giusto”, an intelligent, gentle and overly polite employee in a grotesque world of ruthless cynicism that we will be able to get to know on November 26th and 27th. December 3rd will be the evening of Franco Arminio who will bring to the Nest stage “Studi sull'amore”, a reading show with published and unpublished poems: the photography of a body scared of death and inflamed by love.
On December 17th and 18th, “I Mezzalira – Panni sporchi fritti in casa” will be performed: A tragicomic story that mixes the bright tones of Italian comedy with the dark shades of mystery and thriller, inviting the spectator to look through the keyhole of an “ordinary” house.
2023 at the Nest opens on January 7 and 8 with Giostra, the story of a husband, a wife, a house, two children and a routine that gradually becomes a welcoming ritual in which to lose oneself.
On January 21 and 22, the tribute to Antonio Tarantino, who passed away in 2021, with Barabba, a show by Teresa Ludovico, where the protagonist embodies the emotions deriving from the theater that oscillate, like masks hanging from a thread. Luna Romani is Barbara in “Mamy Blues”, a non-subscription show that we will see at the Nest on February 18 and 19 that tells the story of a woman in her thirties, gripped by the torpor of insomnia, who tells and relives the pieces of her existence before and after motherhood. On February 20, the format “An evening at the Nest with…” starts and the first protagonist will be Alessio Boni who, together with Marcello Prayer, will give life to a crazy, difficult, rare, alienating, unusual concert entitled “Canto degli escluso”, dedicated to Alda Merini, which forces an audience to dedicate themselves for an hour and a half to poetry alone.
On March 4 and 5, here is La Regola dei Giochi, a show divided into two one-act plays that tells of “futures that are too present”. The life and turmoil of an apparently happy couple, played by Aurora Peres and Marco Quaglia, is the nerve center of the show “La pace non è mai stato un'opzione”, on stage on March 25 and 26. The other two events with “Una serata al Nest con…” (An evening at the Nest with…) are yet to be announced. This has become one of the most anticipated and appreciated events of the season, which, year after year, has seen artists of international caliber grace the tables of the Nest.
Through stories, anecdotes, tales and questions from #GiovaniO'Nest, Alessandro Preziosi and Silvio Orlando will take off their actor's clothes to reveal many aspects of their careers and lives in an intimate and intense conversation. With a date to be defined, Duett for JJ is also a tribute to Joyce's Ulysses on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of its publication, narrated by the splendid Cristina Donadio.
This year's Nest season also features ample space for workshops, a testament to a training program carried out with great energy and conviction, completely free of charge. Its goal is not to create new actors or actresses, but new culturally aware citizens who desire to inhabit a theater and a cultural space, who love it, nurture it, and experience it. The teachers who are participating this year with immense dedication and commitment to our project, fully embracing our cultural activism, are Massimiliano Cividati, Adriano Giannini, Lorenzo Gleijesis, Anna Redi, and Mariano Tufano.
