In Naples Abc will manage the integrated water service. With the assignment of the water service the company can participate in Pnrr tenders
Abc, a special company owned by the Municipality of Naples, was entrusted with the integrated water service in compliance with the current legislation.
The measure was approved by the Executive Committee of the Ente Idrico Campano during the session of last September 28. The preliminary Plan of the Naples City District was also approved, consisting of the program of interventions, the management model and the economic-financial plan that "represents the basis" on which to plan the development and strengthening of the service.
“One year after the installation of the new Board of Directors – said Alessandra Sardu, president of Abc – we are giving back to the city a company in which normal management and administrative operations have been restored, a year in which we were awarded the integrated water service, in which the dispute with the Campania Region was closed, in which the 2019, 2020 and 2021 financial statements were adopted. Results - he added - which allow us to look to the future with greater serenity and to participate in all the PNRR calls for water and sewerage infrastructures”.
Possible resources of the Pnrr that would be added to the 27 million euros that Abc was awarded by participating in the Pon Reti and that were used to finance projects relating to Smart meters (30 thousand euros); to the active management of pressures in 56 micro districts; for the Smart water management system platform serving 1120 km of water network and for the replacement of 24 km of obsolete pipes.
As for access to the next tranche of Pnrr funds, Abc will be able to present the project for the completion of the activities already underway and financed by the Pon infrastructures and networks by October 31, while as for the sewerage sector, the company aims to obtain funds for the digitalization, modeling and monitoring of the city's sewerage network and to carry out infrastructural interventions distributed throughout the city. Furthermore, Abc can present proposals by October 10 to obtain funds from the CIS (Institutional Development Contract - Water as a Common Good Project) with which to carry out infrastructural interventions on the aqueduct and sewerage system.
“We are demonstrating great collaboration – said Fulvio Bonavitacola, vice president of the Campania Region – today important premises are being created for future work: we are facing the challenges of climate change, war and the resulting cost of energy. Epochal challenges that cannot be faced with companies that are not regularized, you have to be in optimal shape otherwise you lose”.
