Gustus returns to Naples, for the eighth edition also the sections of the World Tiramisu Championship. Caputo: "Fundamental event to promote Campania excellence".
The appointment with Gustus, the professional agri-food, food and wine and technology fair - the only trade fair in the sector in Central and Southern Italy - is renewed, scheduled from Sunday 20 to Tuesday 22 November 2022 from 10 am to 18:30 pm at the Mostra d'Oltremare in Naples.
The Ice – Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian companies – returns to the fair, bringing 120 companies and 40 international buyers to Naples. The Campania Region, the host, is also present as usual, with stands dedicated to agrifood and fish. “The eighth edition of Gustus – says Nicola Caputo, regional councillor for Agriculture – confirms itself as a fundamental event to promote the agri-food excellence of Campania. As it has demonstrated in previous editions, it is a festival capable of creating a system among companies by promoting a new model for the development and internationalization of our companies. Also this year the Department of Agriculture will be present with the participation in thematic conferences, with stands dedicated to the excellence of our agri-food system and to the fish companies and with numerous show cookings in which the main products of Campania food and wine will be presented with the mastery of the chefs of the Italian Chefs Federation and the Regional Union of Campania Chefs. There are numerous companies selected by the department for which we have organized meetings with buyers and international operators. This year, Naples and Campania will be the protagonists of the festival with an eye on the excellence of the South but with an eye always turned towards internationalization”.
“Monday will be our key day – explains Matteo Cutolo, president of the International Federation of Pastry, Ice Cream and Chocolate – because we will hold the selection of central and southern Italy for the qualifications for the world tiramisu championship scheduled in Milan in October 2023. We expect pastry chefs from Lazio, Puglia, Calabria, Sardinia. An important event that will involve about 25 competitors with a jury of five people. Then space - he adds - for artistic pieces, for demonstrations of modern pastry making, for bakers and for the cake design sector that will create a monumental cake for display”.
During the three days of the event there will also be a focus on the “Panettone” product which has now become the maximum expression of Made in Italy in the world and where Campania represents an economic driving force for the sector.
“We expect an even more beautiful event than in the past years. Gustus – highlights Luigi Vitiello, number one of the Campania Regional Chefs Union – represents an extraordinary event for Naples, the South and for all of Italy. It will be a great showcase. We will organize a very intense three days where we will enhance all the products of Campania, we will address important issues to raise awareness in the category on the issue of food waste, true sustainability. We will also talk about how to deal with the price increases”.
There is also great anticipation for Federcarni which, after having further increased its spaces at the fair, will dedicate two days to intensive training. “We are present again at Gustus, in recent years – says Piero Pepe, president of Federcarni Campania – we have increased our work by providing operators with ever new updates thanks to professional courses, free training for all workers in the sector. This year we will have a vast repertoire: we will do courses on maturing, salting, ready-to-cook preparations, cooking meats and many others and everything we prepare will be tasted on site. In addition, for the first time we are collaborating with guests of national importance in the sector and we will have the participation of the national Federcarni and all the regional presidents of Federcarni”.
