The press conference to present the regional finals of the Hackathon #HUBSTEAM was held today in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall of Pomigliano d'Arco.
The national project aimed at promoting the adoption of innovative teaching methodologies by secondary schools, with particular reference to digital teaching and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) disciplines, aimed at active and cooperative learning and relational well-being, organized by ISIS Europa of Pomigliano d'Arco with the collaboration of the Municipal Administration of Pomigliano d'Arco and which will take place on October 28, 2022 at the ITI E. Barsanti of Pomigliano d'Arco.
The press conference was attended by: Angela Comparone, Head of ISIS EUROPA; Mario Rosario Ponsiglione, Head of ITI E. Barsanti; Anna Fiore, Councilor for Education, Youth Policies, Sports and Equal Opportunities of Pomigliano D'Arco; Salvatore Esposito Councilor for Social Policies and Labor of Pomigliano d'Arco.
Gianluca Del Mastro, Mayor of Pomigliano d'Arco, concluded the presentation. The Hackathon (a neologism derived from the terms "hacker" and "marathon"), is an event during which participants, divided into 13 groups, work to solve a specific challenge or request launched by one or more subjects active in the territory, quickly developing prototypes, proposals or innovative services in response to specific problems or needs. Normally, in the phase of ideation and development of the solution, the teams are supported by mentors and experts. At the end of the event, the project is presented in front of a specially convened jury that evaluates and awards the proposal deemed most suitable.
The Hackathon will see the participation of teams of students from schools in Campania:

The winning team will participate in the national Hackathon that will be held on December 15th in Lucca.
#HUBSTEAM is a project funded by the Ministry of Education, conceived by a network of six schools, experts in the use of innovative teaching methodologies and in the design and management of national and international projects and founders of the Movimento delle Avanguardie Educative: the ISI “S. Pertini” of Lucca, the lead school, the IIS “L. Pacioli” of Crema, the Liceo “A. Bertolucci” of Parma, the ITE “E. Tosi” of Busto Arsizio, the IIS “Savoia-Benincasa” of Ancona and the ISIS “Europa” of Pomigliano d'Arco which, to date, are also regional hub schools of the movement.
The main objective of the project is to experiment with the STEAM methodology through design thinking laboratory courses and changemaking events.
The coordination of the hackathons and the organizational support are provided by CASCO, the Center for Learning and Skills Development.
