“I hit someone, I need money to avoid arrest.”
Two wealthy pensioners from Avellino fell into the trap of scammers who, over the phone, pretending to be their son living in Milan, managed to get them to hand over 50 thousand euros in cash.

“A friend of mine will come to collect the money“, the fake son had told his mother on the phone.
A few minutes later an accomplice showed up at the front door of the house in Parco Abate, in the center of the city. Once he had the money he drove away on a scooter wearing a helmet. The alarm was raised when the woman, the wife of a well-known professional, called her son who was obviously shocked.
Investigations are underway by the Mobile Squad of the Avellino Police Headquarters. They hope for the help of the video surveillance cameras present in the area and in the same park where the couple resides to trace the scammers.
