“Last May we took over a historic bar in the heart of the Health District, which we called Sisu.
Since then we have been subjected to continuous intimidation and vandalism, with consequent economic and image damage. We are afraid but we will not lower our heads”. This is the complaint of Dario, owner of the Sisu bar together with his wife Assunta, who turned to the councilor Francesco Emilio Borrelli after the umpteenth devastation suffered.
“Only last Thursday they destroyed the wall next to our shop window. Someone took the trouble to tear off entire pieces of marble and then left them on the floor. I don't know yet how much this damage will cost us. Before this episode, we found the lock of the bar shutter filled with glue, and they did the same thing to our scooter.
Even the car was not spared, found with its wheels completely slashed. All these episodes were promptly reported to the Police, who are proceeding with the investigations and which we hope will be concluded soon. This bar represents an important opportunity for us, the result of years and years of sacrifices, but in these conditions it becomes really difficult to carry on a business honestly.
In order to pay the salaries of all our employees, I am forced to work in another bar, with a part-time contract, but despite the many difficulties we will never lower our heads, but we ask for greater attention from the institutions that must not leave us alone".
“The cry of Dario and Assunta must not go unheard” commented the regional councilor of Europa Verde, Francesco Emilio Borrelli. “The institutions must stand by honest entrepreneurs who resist the abuses of crime. Those who do business in our city must be supported with every means at our disposal.
These workers must be guaranteed safety, with a greater presence of uniforms on our streets and the installation of more video surveillance cameras. Dario and Assunta are an example to follow and I will personally go to the Sisu Bar to congratulate them and tell them that they are not alone, because even with a simple gesture like drinking a coffee we can give them a hand”. Francesco Emilio Borrelli concluded.
