A 65-year-old man was reported at large to the Public Prosecutor's Office Benevento for the crimes of fowling, animal cruelty and aggravated theft of birds to the detriment of state property.

In the Olivola district of Benevento, the military personnel of the Carabinieri Forestale Station identified the 65-year-old man engaged in the prohibited practice of fowling, that is, the indiscriminate capture of birds using a net operated with a system of wires and ropes and the simultaneous use of a small bird, used as a visual and sound decoy for wild birds, tied by the chest and legs with a wire that prevented it from taking flight.

The military also found a cage containing other goldfinches, already captured in the same way, as well as numerous electro-acoustic radio recall devices, which were in operation. The military seized the material used and reported the 65-year-old.
