Campania, VI Commission hinges school psychology proposal. Fiola: “Region is the worst for youth hardship and dispersion
“It is very positive that on such an important topic, such as the mental health of young people and the enrichment of the school offering with the figure of the psychologist, there are more proposed laws that create the conditions for a synergic and constructive work that will lead us to the approval of a valid and effective law to combat educational poverty and school dropout”.
This is what the president of the Campania Regional Commission for Education and Social Policies, Bruna Fiola (PD), stated, introducing the work of the council body which, this morning, has filed the proposed laws, presented, respectively, by president Fiola and regional councilor Vittoria Lettieri (De Luca President), and by the regional councilors of Italia Viva, Tommaso Pellegrino, Vincenzo Alaia and Francesco Iovino, for the establishment of the school psychology service.
“Campania is, unfortunately, the worst place for juvenile hardship, for juvenile crime, for school dropouts – Fiola recalled -, therefore we need to work much more intensely on these issues and for the school world in order to reverse the trend and certainly the establishment of the school psychology service will be able to make a contribution to improving the condition of young people in our territory”.
“Mental health is a very important topic that also concerns the world of youth and this is why we propose the establishment of the school psychology service as it is essential that schools have the necessary organization and the necessary figures to promote the psycho-physical well-being of students and the best social inclusion”, explained councilor Vittoria Lettieri.
“The school world is the one that has paid a high price for the pandemic causing great discomfort in our young people and this is why with our proposed law we are establishing the figure of the school psychologist to promote an even more positive and constructive school environment for the future of our children”, Pellegrino underlined. “For twelve years, as mayor, I have financed this project for my territory and it has borne very important fruit, for this reason I support the importance of this law and I am certain that it will bring an important contribution to the improvement of the scholastic world”, said councilor Felice Di Maiolo (mixed group).
“These proposed laws are very important because they address a fundamental issue and go in the direction of enhancing the school world, a point of reference for our young people and for our society. – said Iovino – it is necessary to strengthen every synergy to combat school dropout and educational poverty and to promote the education and mental health of young people, a basic condition for their growth and integration into society".
After the discussion, the Commission decided to set up a subcommittee, composed of the president Fiola and the councilors Vittoria Lettieri and Tommaso Pellegrino, to reach the definition of a single text.
