Tensions continue to be recorded at the Juvenile Detention Centre in Airola, without there being adequate and concrete responses from the Central Administration.
“Yesterday morning – Pasquale Baiano SiNAPPe National Coordinator SiNAPPe for Juvenile Justice reports – two inmates engaged in a vile brawl and a prison policeman was injured, with the latter having to be taken to the local hospital (via ambulance), in addition to an act of self-harm committed by another inmate. Today, however, the Penitentiary Police commendably found a cell phone in the arbitrary possession of a prisoner”.
“The situation is now out of control, given the ongoing vicissitudes that compromise order, security and the physical and psychological safety of both workers and the prison population – concludes Baiano – and we express unconditional concern for the entire prison community”.
“In recent days, SiNAPPe has already claimed the need to define a new government at the Institute, given the discontinuous presence of the Director and Commander, who can finally guarantee an idyllic management of the entire apparatus, in addition to starting the appropriate structural interventions, given the current limitations that impose organizational difficulties”.
“SiNAPPe expresses deep appreciation for the zealous and tireless work carried out by the Penitentiary Police personnel, especially during the presence of critical events and the discovery of the cell phone, and launches yet another appeal to the Territorial Office of the Government, to the Institutions and to politics, so that there are serious interests that guarantee the general good performance of the Sannio Institute, before it is too late”.
“We are also ready to take to the streets, if necessary, to assert our reasons for the protection of the community. We cannot witness an intolerable silence”.
