A cycle path in place of the tracks where the trains of the line now pass Caserta-Frasso Telesino, which Ferrovie Dello Stato will return to the Municipalities by 2026 given the entry into operation of the Naples-Bari high-speed rail line.
An idea that had already made its way and that is confirmed today, at least as far as the Municipality of Caserta is concerned, by the municipal councilor of the movement “Caserta Decide” Raffaele Giovine, who in the Council asked for clarifications from the urban planning councilor Domenico Maietta, receiving official confirmation on the construction of the cycle path.
“In 2018 – explains Giovine – the Municipality of Caserta had brought to the press hypotheses of converting the railway into a driveway. However, the Administration today denied it, reassuring, as foreseen by two resolutions of 2020, the intended use as a cycle path.
We are satisfied with the clarification of Councilor Maietta – Giovine underlines – as we at Caserta Decide want to reiterate our commitment to the approval of a zero land consumption PUC and to a sustainable mobility plan: the disused railway axis represents in this sense a great opportunity for the creation of an important cycle path in a city that is overly cemented and lacking in cycle paths, which goes from San Clemente to the historic center”.
