Southern Sports Center of San Rufo, Corrado Matera: 'We are working to relaunch the facility at 360°'. The project had suffered delays due to the pandemic
“We are working to compete in the expression of interest published by the Universiade Agency, to recover the football field, the athletics track and the tennis courts, at the same time providing for the adaptation of the swimming pool and gym of the Southern Sports Center of San Rufo”.
Regional Councillor Corrado Matera made this known, underlining that the relaunch project of the important sports facility in Vallo di Diano started a long time ago: “The Museum of Sport and the Universiade - he highlights - was created with CONI when I was the Councilor for Tourism of the Campania Region. Located in the Southern Sports Center, it is a fundamental pivot for restarting the entire complex”.
The Sports Museum was the first piece of the ambitious program which envisages the 360° relaunch of the entire Valdiano sports complex. The project, slowed down only due to the pandemic, has restarted with determination in recent months.
"The Palazzetto dello Sport -confirms Corrado Matera- has already been reactivated, in time to host the home games of Sporting Sala Consilina, a team involved in the Serie A5 2-a-side Football Championship, and Diesel Tecnica, involved in the Serie B Basketball Championship. Hearing the passionate chants and applause of the Valdianesi fans within those historic walls was both a great emotion and a great satisfaction. Now we are working to complete the other steps, which will involve the recovery and adaptation of all the facilities of the Southern Sports Center. This phase has also been completed. -concludes the regional councilor originally from Teggiano- the sport of Vallo di Diano will return to have the role of great prestige that it deserves”.
