The 8.500th edition of the Mediterranean Exchange of Archaeological Tourism closes. 160 visitors, 17 exhibitors at the Exhibition Hall with 12 regional territories represented, 500 Regions, Rome Capital with Municipio X and the Ministry of Culture with 20 square meters, XNUMX Foreign Countries
“The 24th edition of the Mediterranean Archaeological Tourism Exchange has just concluded – comments the Founder and Director of BMTA Ugo Picarelli – a four-day commitment with a rich program that accompanies the promotion of tourist-archaeological destinations, starting first of all from the name "Borsa" which takes shape in the Workshop with European buyers selected by ENIT National Tourism Agency to which we have also added our tour operators specializing in archaeological tourism.
Many sellers, operators of the offer both of the world of tourism and of the cultural one, met on the third day to intercept the European tourist demand, which in the last twenty years has preferred competitor countries but that we absolutely must recover for a proximity tourism also national.
At the same time, the Exhibition Hall is full of many Regions and destinations, from Sicily to Puglia, from Calabria to the Province of Trento, Valle d'Aosta, Lazio, Molise, the Campania Region with 150m500 of exhibition space, but above all the Ministry of Culture, with 16m2 dedicated also to Parks and Museums under independent management, from that of Paestum and Velia, the host, to the Colosseum Park, Sibari, Campi Flegrei, the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, the in-house company of MiC ALES, Europa Creativa, the Italian Association Langobardorum: extraordinary and authoritative presences that are here for the valorization of the archaeological heritage. The BMTA is a large container with 5 sections that have also welcomed many young people from numerous Italian regions: the world of school has also encountered the training offer from the Universities for the choice of their professional future. Many entities, many subjects, institutions participate in the Exchange, first of all UNESCO, the World Tourism Organization, the Ministry of Culture which with the General Secretariat is putting in place an extraordinary participation, but above all the Campania Region with the Department of Tourism and the General Directorate of Cultural Policies and Tourism, the City of Capaccio Paestum thanks to whose Mayor we have an extraordinary, identifying location at our disposal, an industrial archaeology site, and the Archaeological Park of Paestum and Velia which has welcomed many visitors also opening their deposits to them. We are already ready to fill the program of the XXV edition with content, which will take place from 2023 to XNUMX November XNUMX”.

And, again, ArcheoVirtual with the International Exhibition of Virtual Archaeology, ArcheoExperience with the Experimental Archeology Laboratories for the dissemination of the techniques used by man to create artefacts for everyday use, ArcheoLavoro post-diploma and post-graduate orientation by the Universities to which they have 30 students with 29 teachers from 2.500 schools from Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Lazio, Puglia and ArcheoStartup participated for the presentation of youth cultural tourism businesses, in collaboration with the Startup Tourism Association. These are just some numbers of the XXIV Mediterranean Exchange of Archaeological Tourism which took place from 200 to 50 October in Paestum at the Cafasso Tabacchificio (from the recent name of NEXT Nuova Esposizione Ex Tabacchificio), the Park and the Archaeological Museum, the Basilica, confirming itself as unique in its gender: in 27 the BMTA was also an opportunity for meeting, in-depth analysis and dissemination of topics relating to the use, management, valorisation of the archaeological heritage and the promotion of the archaeological segment of cultural tourism for professional business, tourist and cultural operators of the public and the private sector, travellers, the school and university world, the media.
The BMTA is promoted by the Campania Region, the City of Capaccio Paestum and the Archaeological Park of Paestum and Velia and is conceived and organized by Leader srl, Founder and Director Ugo Picarelli.
