'Fall in Cetara', the autumn events
The events in the coastal village do not stop. For the entire month of November, a rich program of events will bring to life the Fall in Cetara program as in a play on words that announces the autumn activities, anticipating the winter ones that are just around the corner. This time too, with the support of Amici del Forum, Forum dei Giovani, Amici delle Alici, a review full of novelties that will go straight to the heart of everyone, young and old, also favoring visitors who want to choose Cetara in the "off season" to spend carefree hours in a magical place.
Inflatables, cotton candy and many other surprises will be the ingredients of Happy Halloween, Monday 31 October, at 17 pm, in Piazzetta Grotta. Trick or treat? Both, to entertain the little ones with their parents, all ready to dress up as ghosts, monsters, zombies and horror creatures to scare the older ones. Then it will be the turn of the long-awaited event, with the switching on of the themed lights that anticipates the Christmas holidays, starting from 5 November, at 17.30:XNUMX pm, to kick off an original Christmas that links traditional culture and marine elements to the atmosphere of serenity and rhythm.
In a route that winds from Piazza Costantinopoli, in the upper part of the town, Le Creature del Mare will animate the streets of the village, to cross the main street and up to Largo Marina, where, from 18.30:XNUMX pm, together with the parade of street artists, you will witness the countdown for the lighting of the Christmas tree that will dominate the promenade. Afterwards, a fireworks display will delight the spectators, to continue the celebrations with entertainment dedicated to children.
The decorations are an exclusive product by Genial Illuminazione for the Municipality of Cetara, made with ultra-energy-saving LEDs, with technical support in assembly by Enrico Liguori: "From midnight to 24 am, one street lamp out of three will remain lit. To give you a better idea, the lights throughout the town will consume as much as a running washing machine - the administration is keen to point out - and, for this reason, despite the increase in energy prices, savings will be made compared to the historical cost".
Fun, yes, but in a responsible way, which gives way to the delicate moment in which we are all called to deal with our own household economies, and not only. They will also remain active for a limited time, from 17 pm to midnight, except during holidays. "Our peculiarities are the best possible offer, focusing on hospitality and welcome, starting from the well-being of our citizens.
The tourist and cultural initiatives to which we pay most attention have, in fact, the aim of promoting our territory 365 days a year, making Cetara an attractive destination for families, young couples, groups of friends and the curious who may have already been to the Amalfi Coast, but not yet to our splendid town or who, simply, choose to return in a different period" – explains the mayor of Cetara, Fortunato Della Monica. "
It starts with the lighting of the artistic lights, and then has a series of meetings such as the Colatura di Alici di Cetara Convention After the Ezio Falcone Award returns this year” – a commitment that renews the usual tradition, as confirmed by the words of the mayor, sealed by the Councilor with responsibility for Tourism and Entertainment, Daniele Luigi D'Elia and Cinzia Forcellino, Councilor with responsibility for Culture, Equal Opportunities and Communication: “We will put the little ones and their families even more at the center of our program because, especially in this particular period, they are our magnifying glass that pushes us to do better every time”. And it doesn't end there. Again, for movie buffs, the film is seasoned.
With four dates, every Friday of the month, from 19 pm, the Cinealici review returns, in collaboration with ambientarti which, for the AMI Cetara format, will propose four cinematographic events closely linked to the theme of the sea and roots, accompanied in preview by the work of the Cetara anchovy colatura.
The meeting destination will be the Torre Vicereale, with its Cantina Museum, where the following will be shown: The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (Wes Anderson) on November 4, the film Life of Pi (Ang Lee) on November 11, the next time, on November 18, Big Fish: Stories of an Incredible Life (Tim Burton), to close, on November 25, with the screening of Mediterraneo (Gabriele Salvatores). Free admission, reservations are preferable (Whatsapp 389/4770914). But there can be no fun without memory, therefore, space will also be given to the most sensitive topics.
Historical memory and individual memory are the basis of our memories and our way of acting.
On October 24, 1910, Cetara was hit by a violent storm that swept away a good part of the town, especially near today's Piazza Mercato. In that tragedy, entire families or families who had arrived in town for a holiday were also wiped out.
The death toll was one hundred and eleven. In honor of the victims of the flood, next Sunday, October 30, at 11, there will be a Holy Mass in the Church of St. Peter the Apostle, along with a commemorative procession with the laying of a wreath at the monument named after them. Participation is open to all.
November 25th is the date universally recognized as the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women” and, for the occasion, the Municipality has decided to have the students of the Cetara school complex as its main interlocutor, inviting them to the awareness-raising show on the theme Red Shoes, on stage on Friday November 25th, from 10 am, at the Sala Benincasa.
Admission to all events is free.
