Maddaloni. 11 kilograms of unlabeled and untraceable porcini mushrooms sold illegally on the street were seized.
As part of specific control activities aimed at combating the illegal itinerant trade of mushrooms in bulk, the soldiers of the Carabinieri Forestry Station of Marcianise, in the countryside of the municipality of Maddaloni along the Strada Statale N. 265 del Ponti della Valle, they found a person who was busy selling fresh porcini mushrooms in bulk on an itinerant basis, using his own car for this purpose, and who was advertising the product with a sign bearing the words “Funghi Porcini”.
This form of itinerant trade, which has fresh mushrooms in bulk as its object, is expressly prohibited by an Ordinance of the Ministry of Health as it could be potentially dangerous for public health for hygiene reasons and because the edibility and product traceability.
Therefore, making the conduct in question a crime against public health, the aforementioned soldiers proceeded with the judicial seizure of the product found for sale, quantified as 11 kg of fresh porcini mushrooms in bulk, and released the offender into custody for non-compliance of a measure issued by the Authority for reasons of hygiene and public health.
