Gaeta pre-Christian amphorae seized, two reports. Joint operation Naples Coast Guard and Caserta police
Archaeological finds, including those from the pre-Christian era, were seized by the Naples Coast Guard and the Caserta Police, in collaboration with the Gaeta and Fondi police stations and the Special Intervention Unit of the General Command of the Guardia di Finanza, as part of a joint investigation.
A seventy-six-year-old from Gaeta and his wife were reported at large for illegal possession of archaeological finds. In particular, during a series of house and computer searches, delegated as part of another investigation, investigators found in the home of a citizen of Gaeta, two amphorae of particular historical interest, one of which is estimated to be from the pre-Christian era.
The finds were seized and made available to the judicial authorities.
