The thief who used his scooter as a battering ram the other morning and broke down the front door of the Antica Latteria restaurant, on Vico Alabardieri in Chiaia, before fleeing with the takings, has been identified.
The man was reported for aggravated theft. He was identified within 24 hours thanks to images from the video surveillance cameras of another business located a few meters from the restaurant that was the object of the theft.
The images clearly showed the thief's face and the license plate number of the vehicle used. It was not difficult for the Carabinieri of the Chiaia station to identify him. In the meantime, however, other footage from private video surveillance systems in the area is emerging, where it is possible to see that the scoundrel, a few minutes earlier, had tried, unsuccessfully, to enter another place: the "Smove".
In these new images, the man is seen standing on the seat of his scooter to break down the door of the shop, but then falls heavily. When he realizes that the task is not easy, he decides to move on and check if he can access the other shops in the alley, until he reaches the Antica Latteria. It takes only a few shots to destroy the door and access the shop, where he finds 400 euros in the cash register, money with which he runs away immediately after.
The restaurant, despite the damage, has reopened to the public. The owner Michele Silvestri posted a photo on his social profiles while serving customers with the comment: "We start again from you from your support... it doesn't matter we love our city we believe in it". Demonstrating that the desire to move forward and continue working in a city as beautiful and complicated as Naples, is always there.

But in the morning Silvestri, while announcing the theft, posted an even more emblematic photo with the comment: “This is a door ….. whoever crosses it usually finds joy and smiles …. To you who broke it down tonight for a few euros …. I wish you a better life than the one you have today ….. God sees and provides dear quail thief!!!! But with those few euros all lactic ferments!!!!””.
