The Museo Mineralogico Campano celebrates its thirtieth anniversary. Two initiatives scheduled for Saturday 22nd at 10.30:XNUMX in the Sala delle Colonne of the SS.Trinità Monumental Complex.
The Vico Equense Museum, established by the Discepolo Foundation and opened to the public on 22 October 1992, is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary with two initiatives scheduled for Saturday 22 at 10.30 am in the Sala delle Colonne of the SS.Trinità Monumental Complex.
Testifying to the cultural, scientific, informative and multidisciplinary mission of the museum institution, one of the most significant in Campania, will be “Mens”, “Fulmen” and “Aequor”, characters featured in the volume “Dialoghi sulla Logica” by Claudio Bernardi, full professor at the University “La Sapienza” in Rome.
The presentation of the book published by “Scienza Express” will also be attended by co-authors of humanistic and scientific disciplines, professors of Higher Institutes of Lazio, while the event will be chaired by Prof. Nicola Fusco, academic of the Lincei and full professor of Mathematical Analysis at the University “Federico II” of Naples.
Pages from the book will be read and logic games will be played with a view to actively involving the public, who will take part in the daily events of Mens (the master) and his two young students, Fulmen (lightning), fast and intuitive, but prone to errors due to the rush to arrive at the solution quickly, and Aequor (deep sea), less fast, but more thoughtful and calm in his reasoning.
Through humanistic, linguistic and scientific topics with lively, stimulating and funny dialogues between the three imaginary characters, the simplicity underlying linguistic and mathematical logic will be revealed. The volume is the result of close collaboration between academic teachers and Higher Institutes in the mathematical and humanistic fields and manages to highlight the importance of reasoning in all areas of knowledge, using funny vignettes inspired by the characteristics of the protagonists.
In addition to the educational event, the thirtieth anniversary of the Museum will be celebrated with the presentation to the public of the donation, by “Cangiano Gioielli” of Vico Equense, of various gems, both natural and cut, from three continents and a crystallized gold nugget found in Venezuela.
“This act of generosity towards the Museum and the presentation of the engaging volume on logic – says Dr. Umberto Celentano, director of the Museum – significantly increases, both scientifically and communicatively, our cultural and tourist offering, a mission that was also highly appreciated by Emmanuelle Charpentier, Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry in 2020, during her recent visit”.
The French scientist, awarded the Nobel Prize for having developed the revolutionary Crispr technique of gene editing, visited the Museo Mineralogico Campano on October 7, illustrated in English and French by the students of the VG and VI classes of the “Publio Virgilio Marone” linguistic high school in Meta. Inaugurated thirty years ago thanks to the generosity of the engineer Pasquale Discepolo, who donated his large collection of minerals from all over the world, the Museum, established by the Discepolo Foundation, thanks to numerous donations, has continuously increased its cultural offering by opening the new sections of paleontology, gems, anthropology and malacology.
