Teatro Serra opens the season with 'My friend D.'. “My dreams are two: to play in the World Cup and to be the champion”
On Friday 28 October at 21:00 pm, the Teatro Serra in Naples (in Fuorigrotta, in Via Diocleziano 316, adjacent to the Vesuvius Observatory) inaugurates the 'Campi ardenti' theatrical season 2022/23 with the show “Il mio amico D” by and with Pietro Tammaro, adapted and directed by Luca Saccoia.
The story of a boy, and with him of an entire generation, raised in the myth of Diego Armando Maradona, a mythical figure, yet earthly, a sign of hope for change and a dream of a better future for all the "lucky colored boys of the 80s". It will be repeated on Saturday 29th at 21:00 pm and Sunday 30th October at 18:00 pm, with a party in honor of the birthday of the "Pibe de oro".
A show that uses football as a pretext, love and admiration for the myth of all the kids born in the late 70s: Maradona. The audience in the theater is projected into a sort of imaginary stadium curve and the protagonist Mauro Manzo (Pietro Tammaro) relives with poetic lightness the dream of a teenager from the 80s who, due to physical resemblance, even thinks he is Maradona, but who, looking at reality - and his little football talent - ends up wanting to whistle at least a penalty in his favor. The journey through memories is also linked to objects and characters that are symbols of that period (balls, figurines, cars, etc.) that become a scenographic element in an imaginary playground built by the protagonist on stage.
“The text tells the story of a boy's childhood, in relation to the myth of Maradona”, explains the interpreter, Pietro Tammaro. Winner in 2010 of the Fuori Luogo monologue competition, “Il mio amico D” was also performed at START, a theatre space that promotes contemporary drama. It was also a guest at the Montalcino International Festival and at the Mare Nostrum Festival in Gaeta and repeated in Naples on the occasion of Maradona's 50th birthday, as part of the event “Il Mio amico D: giubileo maradoniano” attracting the attention of national and international media. Staged in Dortmund. It will be performed in December in Lienz, Austria, translated into English: “despite the Neapolitan setting, the games in the street in front of the stadium and the goals made with backpacks, the foreign public strongly identifies with the stories of Diego and all of us, his fans” continues the actor, directed on stage by his friend and colleague Luca Saccoia.
A representation that speaks to the heart of all those who believed that things could change with a kick-off, to those who if "he" had scored, from that moment on, would have died in peace, but also to all those who hate football, to wives who have felt betrayed, in short, to those who still have faith and want to play.

But in Naples it was a feat to find a place like that, for free. The field of fields was always occupied: the parking lot of the San Paolo stadium, the prelude to the temple of Dieguito. There were people who camped there weeks in advance. The first one who spotted the free field, which could be just a few meters, called everyone else to gather with a whistle. But just as newborns have not fully developed their senses, so we did not yet distinguish the colors well. For us the blue was still too high, we saw it torn apart by the wake of the planes and that was it. Even the ball seemed to reside elsewhere before the arrival of Dieguito. Not here, not in the sun, not for us. It was not yet the time for the Pibe to play and win the World Cup, but it was certainly our time to give a face to the blue and not raise our heads to look for it.
