His name was Raffaele Zagaria, he was from Campania and he worked as a professional nurse at the Grassi hospital in Ostia. He was the first health worker at the Grassi hospital in Ostia to die after a month of hospitalization in March 2021 for COVID-19.

The health worker had forwarded multiple requests to the Grassi Health Directorate and to the ASL Roma 3 asking - in consideration of his precarious and immunosuppressed state of health - to be placed in nursing duties not in direct contact with the Covid department.
And instead the multiple requests were totally ignored, the man was placed on the front line against the Covid and after having contracted it he unfortunately died. After her husband's death, the widow filed a claim for damages against the ASL Roma 3. The claim was rejected without reason.
