Jabil: another “no” to the unions on layoffs Black smoke also at the third table on the future of Marcianise employees.
The electronics multinational Jabil is not backtracking on its decision to fire 190 employees at its production site in Marcianise (Caserta). This is what emerged from the third meeting between the unions and Jabil's top management, held online in the presence of representatives of Confindustria. Another black smoke in the meeting between the parties, the third, after the previous ones on September 29 and October 17.
Representatives of the US multinational have reiterated clearly that they intend to move forward with the collective dismissal procedure, giving December 11 as the “deadline”, the date by which they intend to close the redundancy process to reach a workforce of 250 employees, from the current 440.
The unions have in turn reiterated their request to the company to withdraw the procedure. A dialogue of the “deaf” for now, which will experience its last round on November 7, when the parties will meet again as required by law, which gives the social parties 45 days to jointly study the procedure and find solutions.
Jabil announced the layoffs on September 23, so starting from November XNUMX, once negotiations are over, the parties will have to find solutions, perhaps trying to find other companies to relocate the laid-off employees.
But the relocation to other production facilities of the approximately 250 employees who have left Jabil since June 2019 (fired and then relocated at Jabil's expense) has not yielded the desired results, and the short time available does not help. Meanwhile, the workers' mobilization against the layoffs continues, and more demonstrations are expected in the coming days.
