The sensational story of Passannante at the Sala Ichos from 21 to 23 October. The work of Antonio Mocciola and Edgardo Bellini reconstructs in an imaginary situation the aspirations, the drive and the pain of the young anarchist, tortured and defeated by the revenge of power.
In the autumn of 1878, a young man from Lucania arrives in Naples; he has traveled barefoot for two days. He makes a sensational gesture, which shocks Italy and reaches all of the European press. The punishment of the Italian State is terrifying, of an absurd cruelty that breaks the law; then the page of Giovanni Passannante is torn from all the history books, and he is drowned in oblivion.
In retaliation, the name of his town, Salvia, was changed to Savoia di Lucania. The famous Veronese doctor Cesare Lombroso defined him as “physiognomically suited to crime”.
It is said that Giovanni Pascoli, struck by the audacity of that man, wrote an "Ode to Passannante".
On stage at Sala Ichos from 21 to 23 October, the work by Antonio Mocciola and Edgardo Bellini reconstructs in an imaginary situation the aspirations, the drive and the pain of the young anarchist, tortured and defeated by the revenge of power.
Directed by Gennaro D'Alterio in collaboration with Francesca Davide, the show features three actors from Campania: Francesco Petrillo, in the difficult role of Passannante, Emanuele Di Simone and Giuseppe Brandi.

“The play is built around the figure of the young southern idealist, with his aspirations and his terrible condemnation. Due to the crudeness of the dramatic and scenic language, viewing is recommended for an adult audience”.
