BELOW IS THE FULL TEXT OF DON ANTONIO IAZZETTA'S SPEECH TO THE FAITHFUL
Dearest brothers and sisters, all friends, City of Maddaloni, we have reached, this evening, the moment of farewell and greetings.
I have spent about twenty years of my life with you, which have left a significant mark on my ministry as a Parish Priest.
When I arrived among you, on Sunday 14 December 2003, I was somewhat hesitant and fearful of undertaking this new journey of faith, after my first pastoral experience, as a religious assistant at the Sant'Anna and San Sebastiano hospital in Caserta, but thanks to the help of God and your active collaboration, I can consider that I have given what was in my possibilities to improve the spiritual life of this marvelous parish community of San Martino.
Together we have organized all the pastoral action taking care not only of the external aspect, such as the entire arrangement of the sacred building, (electrification of the bells, new amplification and lighting system of the church, a complete redevelopment of the liturgical hall, as well as of the main altar, new entrance door, complete restoration of the offices of the Sacristy and Parish Priest, Facade of the Church and the Bell Tower, complete restoration of the Rectory and the Garden, Creation of an artistic Nativity scene in 800th century Neapolitan style), but above all taking into maximum consideration the human and spiritual growth of the life of the Community which, thanks to your collaboration, has become more participatory.
Together we have lived, over time, moments that characterize community life, on occasions of joy and sadness.
How can we not remember, in these two decades, the many faces we have met who have supported us in all aspects?
The face of the Catechists, the face of the members of the parish choir, the face of the many collaborators, the face of those who already live in the presence of God.
The face of the thousands of faithful who have crossed the threshold of this venerable Temple, to ask for help and support in their Christian life, finding in us, the doors of the heart and of the Church always open, thus embodying the spirit of Saint Martin, the Saint of Charity.
I do not hide from you that I leave this Community of San Martino with deep sadness and emotion because, without you, we would not have realized those aspirations that aim exclusively at the realization of Christian love, of sharing and of the presence of the Lord among us.
When the bishop told me that I was leaving the Parish of San Martino in Maddaloni, I felt almost like an orphan, but in the spirit of obedience, I had to accept.
In San Leucio, at the new destination of the Royal Parish of San Ferdinando Re, I will be accompanied by the indelible memory of this generous and fervent Community of San Martino Vescovo.
I will always carry you in my heart and I will invoke upon you, every day, in my prayers, all the graces and blessings of the Lord. Best wishes, amen, alleluia!
