The Ricomincio dai Libri fair returns to Naples and Marlin Editore is the protagonist with one of the new novels in its catalogue. The historical novel “La Spada di Manfredi” will be presented at the Sala Mann on 29 October at 18:30 pm in a panel during which the author Francesco Nobile will be interviewed by Alessandro Nocera, a journalist at La Repubblica Napoli, while the actress Ingrid Sansone will bring the pages of the gripping text to life with intense readings of some extracts. “La Spada di Manfredi” tells how, after the defeat at Parma in 1248, the prince, son of Frederick II, must take control of the fate of the dynasty. A novel that Licia Troisi defined as “Precise and punctual, which enthralled me with the events of a fascinating and complex historical figure, that Manfredi who expresses an unprecedented, cosmopolitan and multicultural south. And there is also the Supreme Poet!”
At the Marlin Editore stand, visitors will also be able to find all the latest novelties in the catalogue: The Enigma of the Medusa by Alessandro Luciano, The Clash. Awen, the second chapter of the trilogy by Monica Zunica, The Naked Night by Luigi Pirandello edited by Raffaele Messina, The Gods Are Thirsty by Anatole France, and A Look to the East by Dacia Maraini.
The Sword of Manfred, the plot
The novel tells the story of Manfred, who in 1248 in Parma, after the bitter defeat of his father Frederick II, finds himself having to take up the legacy of his cosmopolitan and multicultural dynasty. A terrible challenge for the young man, which will lead him to abandon his role as a simple falconer, to take up sword and shield against the enemies of his family. Only by an unknown design of fate, will it be up to him, and not the heir to the throne Corrado, to wear the crown of the most advanced Kingdom that the Middle Ages have ever known. Years later, a knight knocks on Dante Alighieri's door, with a story to tell: it will be the great poet who grasps the deepest secret of the Swabian dynasty and takes it upon himself with his immortal work. Among Norman knights, Byzantine mosaics and Eastern dancers, the threads of an unknown south unravel, a crossroads of the Mediterranean and the cornerstone of a nascent hope.
