Angela Lansbury, the British actress who starred in the popular television series 'Murder, She Wrote', has died at the age of 96, her family announced.
“The children of Mrs. Angela Lansbury are saddened to announce that their mother passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Los Angeles, just five days before her 97th birthday,” read a statement quoted by US media.
The British star, who owes her fame and fortune to her television roles, was also a hugely successful stage actress, winning five Tony Awards.
“In addition to her three children, Anthony, Deirdre and David, she is survived by three grandchildren, Peter, Katherine and Ian, plus five great-grandchildren and her brother, producer Edgar Lansbury.”, the family statement reads, “was preceded in death by Peter Shaw, her husband of 53 years. A private family ceremony will be held at a date to be announced.”
