Boscotrecase. Paint cans, stools and the first brush strokes on the white wall. The part dedicated to the murals of the event “Parco delle Pareti d'arte” begins this morning, with the ten artists who will paint the history, traditions and territories between the sea and Vesuvius, starting from those that characterize Boscotrecase.
A first initiative dedicated to the theme of hospitality, financed by the Metropolitan City of Naples. But work is already underway on the second edition. It will be possible to follow the evolution on the official website parcodelleparetidarte.it.
A great book, as the organizers have defined it, the one that will be reproduced behind the Town Hall and that will have ten stories, in addition to the cover and the dedications, and that will represent a part of a larger project that starting in the next few months will bring artists and painters down the streets of the Vesuvian village to paint the slices of life of a village that for centuries has been devoted to art, culture and quality food and wine.
These will be the cornerstones of the upcoming events. On October 28th at 18 pm there will be a talk on “Vini del Vesuvio, tra storia e leggenda” (Wines of Vesuvius, between history and legend), at Cantine Sorrentino with the participation of the actor Patrizio Rispo. An event open to all, but with mandatory reservations. It will close on November 12th with the inauguration of the murals and an evening of music and entertainment, starting at 19 pm, with Francesca Curti Giardina, Angelo Di Gennaro and the singer Mario Maglione.
"We believed in the project from the beginning, when a few years ago it was little more than a project of some friends, who imagined creating something beautiful on the walls of the territory". The city councilor for Culture and Tourism Marialuisa Russomanno commented, adding: "That dream is becoming reality today thanks to the incessant work we are doing with the artistic directors Nello Collaro and Mimmo Pesce. We will build a network that will look far into the future so that it does not die but continues in the coming years".
One of the artistic directors Nello Collaro explained the genesis: «We are not new to these initiatives. In 1985 the same wall welcomed 13 murals for peace and some of the artists who painted at the time will do it again now. Our territory has a vocation for hospitality and solidarity and this administration is interpreting this nature». Then, speaking of the future he said: «In the new call for proposals we will ask for the participation of all citizens who can make the walls available so as to create many chapters of a single artistic and cultural book».
Mayor Pietro Carotenuto was enthusiastic and reiterated the objectives of the project: «On the one hand we will redevelop physical and urban spaces, on the other we will continue the path of cultural and social development of our country that we have undertaken as an administration since 2016. A growing territory passes through these cornerstones. For this reason we have combined street art with other cultural moments such as music or knowledge of our places also through the products of the earth. The idea is to represent our history and our traditions on the walls of the city.
Many children who attend our schools do not know them and this initiative tries to fill this gap". And on the next editions he concluded: "We will certainly do them, we are already working on it. We will ask for supra-municipal funding or, if there are none, we will find the resources from the coffers of our institution. There is a need for cultural development".
