Naples, appeal from Vomero: 'Enough with the wild movida'. A meeting of the Committee for public order and safety is called immediately.
Gennaro Capodanno, president of the Comitato Valori collinari, founder on the social network Facebook of a group against the wild and noisy movida, which has over 700 members, after the many episodes that are also occurring in Vomero, where, according to the complaints received from residents, intolerable episodes continue to occur for the respect of peace and safety, once again sides with the residents, stigmatizing the resulting degradation, and to underline once again the lack of respect for the sacrosanct rights of the inhabitants, determined by the wild movida.
“We can't take it anymore – stigmatizes New Year’s Eve -. All limits of tolerance have been exceeded. It is true that Vomero has been transformed into a large fast food restaurant, with the recent opening of dozens of public establishments, such as bars, sandwich shops, restaurants, snack bars and the like, which, with chairs, tables and umbrellas, of various sizes and shapes, have effectively taken over entire sidewalks and the roadways in front, but we must not forget that, on the territory of the neighborhood, of just two square kilometers, there also live 48 thousand residents who have the sacrosanct right to use the territory where they live in complete serenity and tranquility, without having to suffer harassment and noise, especially late in the evening and at night”.
“Unlivable conditions for the residents of the hilly area, which are evident not only in the streets of the pedestrian areas and in various squares, such as Piazza Vanvitelli, Piazza Medaglie d'Oro, Piazza Immacolata but also in Via Ruoppolo and Via Aniello Falcone – points out Capodanno -. AIn this regard, the intervention of the offices responsible for security and public order is once again required for all checks and for the necessary measures".
“I propose – concludes New Year’s Eve – to all the local committees, who have been fighting for a long time to restore living and safety conditions, to draw up a real calendar of civil protest initiatives to be held in the many areas of the City, where the same problems of degradation and nuisance arise due to the wild nightlife, which, in several cases, as the daily news shows, also becomes aggressive and violent. At the same time, I hope that, shortly, the new Prefect will hold a single-issue meeting of the provincial committee for public order and safety on the issue, for all the necessary measures, to protect the residents of the affected areas”.
